Foix, built around the Castle of the Counts of Foix, is the capital of the Ariege Department.
Nestled in the foothills of the Pyrenées mountains at the confluence of the Ariege and Arget rivers, it has great connections in all directions.  Walkers, Cyclists, Speliologists, Climbers and Historians are attracted here, as are tourists of all nationalities.
Our weather has a more Mediterranen than Atlantic influence and we therefore benefit from an average of 300 days of sunshine a year!
We are the owners, Kim and Mike Grayson, an English couple who, after working hard for a total of 55 years to pay the mortgage and afford many European holidays, discovered the most beautiful spot in Europe.  We settled in Foix in July 2002.  Our backgrounds are cultural:  Kim is a Potter and Linguist and Mike is an Arts Administrator with a great deal of experience in running large venues.  We speak French and Kim also speaks German.
